What is a blog platform?

Blog Platforms are software frameworks that allows users to create website for personal or corporate use. Most of the famous blog platforms today were hosted by servers. One example is blogspot. Have you realized that when you search through blogs hosted by blogspot it comes with a format: [blog_name].blogspot.com. It means that is under the blogspot domain. Thats why other people tried to create there own domains after they encourage traffic to their blog. I myself wanted to have: www.[my_blog_name].(com/ord/net/edu). But since most of the free blog platforms today are becoming famous then ill stay here for a year and determine if there is a possibility of creating my own domain.



What are the blog platforms available today?

There are vast number of blog platforms over the internet but you should go with the flow. You should go with the famous since they will definitely get upgrades and more versions to come and that will be a great advantage to you. If you use, less famous blog platforms, there is a possibility that it will be junked as well as your blog and you wont get any solutions if you encounter errors.

Here is a list of the wonderful blog platforms commonly used today:

1. Wordpress.org - its absolutely free. And you can download it in the wordpress.org website and it has 1000 famous template and expect that more templates will come. It also have good visual editor. It is definitely a secure platform but i have heard that there are some exploits coming and will be out in some webloggers forum online. So watch out for exploits and make sure you wont be a target for these exploits. Most notable writer of wordpress is lorelle.

2. Blogger.com - it is my platform of use and today while i am posting i still use the template offered by blogger.com because i am still reading my xml book and hope i could finish this in less than 15 days. Blogger.com is part of googles partners and in its platform you can add adsense elements and other google related elements.

3. Typepad. It is another blog platform whose developers are claiming that it is the world’s premier blogging service, hosting the leading blogs and small business websites and powering the most influential voices on the social web. There has been alot of design options added lately in this blog platform and if you want you can consider this blog platform. One of the most notable people who use typepad is Seth Godin.

4. Movable type is a weblog publishing system/platform developed by the company Six Apart. It was publicly announced on 3 September 2001, and version 1.0 was publicly released on 8 October 2001. On 12 December 2007, Movable Type was relicensed as free software under the GNU General Public License.

5. Other blog platforms are Vox, Hubpages, xanga.com tumblr and livejournal. Explore each one of these remaining platform using my google search and ask yourself which fits your style.
