Are you an internet surfer, blogger, web developer or just a normal citizen in the internet who usually go to some websites or use search engines to search for things you wanted to know/find but found yourself on a non-informative/copycat blog? They are called splogs, automated or not, which has the purpose of increasing the pagerank of their main blog/site. They created this blog just to create links towards their site and does not even give information to you. All articles in those blogs are fake and just contain promotional ads/article for their affiliate programs.
Also, blogs that post articles on a very large scale niche (VLSN) that contains affiliate ads are considered splog. My blogs once belong to this type of blogs but i found myself getting a large bounce rate and unethical comments so i just focused on this blog.
It was first coined by an American billionaire entrepreneur, Mark Cuban but found himself a follower because it has been found to be used years before he popularized the term.
Since the main purpose of a splog is to get a higher pagerank without giving a good information, they seemed to use Google Trends popular keywords, Yahoo Buzz, digg.com and other famous sites' keywords and those famous keywords are automatically placed in those splogs using scripts. And the popular targets are AOL and Blogger.com (...which i am currently using).
But if you wanted to report these splogs, you can report it at splogreporter.com, splogspot.com and there are also plugins that automatically detect splogs. Be a good citizen and let us promote an informative internet.
Note: If you find a splog in the internet, just send a message to my email at cipals15@gmail.com and we will stop these terrorists of the internet. MAKE LOVE NOT SPLOGS.
