Livejournal.com is one of the pioneer website in the blogosphere that host multiple blogs across the globe. Livejournal was founded in March 1999 by Brad Fitzpatrick for his friends. Later, the mother company was acquired by Six Apart in 2005. In 2007, LiveJournal was then sold by Six Apart to a Russian Internet Company, SUP.

Livejournal is one of the leading social networking community in the internet where users can create blogs or journals. Currently, there are 17.4 million journals and communities registered in Livejournal.
In May 3, 2006, Livejournal was infected and successful penetrated using a denial of service type of attacks. Livejournal was also one of the affected websites during the July 2007 power outage in San Francisco Financial District. Data centers were down as well as other non-internet companies like Proctor and Gamble where affected by the unexpected event.
Livejournal provides good community by deleting or removing contents and communities that promote illegal activities across the web. Thus, making LiveJournal a child-friendly website. But in May 2007, there was a massive Livejournal users revolt because of the mass deletion that the website done to members that alledgely doing illegal activities.
Livejournal also joined open source projects across the web and one the most special events was when they teamed up with Facebook and other major social networking sites.
Livejournal was also affected by the blockage done by Chinese Firewall in March 5, 2007 during the National People's Congress meeting in Beijing. And in March 6, 2007, Valleywag reported that alledgely Brad Fitzpatrick, the livejournal founder, have left Six Apart for a job at Google.
