StumbleUpon was founded in December 2001 by Garrett Camp, Justin LaFrance, Eric Boyd and Geoff Smith.

In April 2007, it released StumbleThru service, an on-site stumbling service.

StumbleUpon has a total of more than 7.5 million users and over 15 million stumbles daily.

In May 2007, StumbleUpon was acquired by eBay for about $75 million.

In April 2009, the company CEO Garrett Camp, Geoff Smith, Ram Shriram, Accel Partners and August Capital bought back StumbleUpon from eBay.

It allows users to share their favorite web contents in various topics such as Animals, Arts, Books, Cats, Politics, Shopping, Linux, Linguistics, Humor, Movies, Clothing and Online Games.
